Sacramento City Unified School District, Area 2
Ballot Statement
These last few years have been hard for all of us—teachers, principals, classified staff, parents, caregivers— but especially our kids.
I am the mom of 14-year old daughters who attend our local schools. I know firsthand the challenges we faced, and now we need stability. I am running for re-election
because I am committed to rebuilding our district and getting our schools back on solid ground.
Two years ago, our district was on the brink of bankruptcy— we made tough decisions and weathered the storm. Today, our budget is solvent and even gave raises to all school employees and teachers—who worked harder than ever before.
In my day job, I advocate for public education—from budgets to policies—to help
students succeed. Now, we have the historic opportunity to reinvest in our kids—and I am ready. I have worked to expand preschool for all 4 year-olds, grow before-after school programs, and hire more teachers and school employees.
Sacramento has been my home for 25 years—I have been a softball team mom, Girl Scouts troop leader, and an active community member. I hope you join me to rebuild our schools.
As a Sacramento Unified School Board Member, Leticia successfully worked to
Bring about District fiscal stability, after years of unbalanced budgets.
Expand opportunities and programs for students and families; Such as Universal PreK and before/after school programs.
Increase workforce investments, adopt fair contracts for workers.
Led the $750 Million H School Facilities Measure—to modernize and improve school facilities.
Expand CTE programs—secured $1M in state funds for CTE so students have more options after graduation.
